1962년 11월 릴리스된 이 곡은 돌연 하늘을 쪼개는 듯한 번개와 격렬한 빗소리로 '인트로'되면서 시작되고 있습니다. 1963년 3월 9일에는 미 빌보드 차트에서 3위가지 올랐습니다. 반세기 이상 시간이 흐르고 있는 가운데서도 세계팬들로부터 여전히 사랑을 받고 있는 불후의 명곡이랄 수 있습니다.
오리지날 곡의 가수는 The Cascades(캐스케이즈)였고, 그후 여러 나라에서 수많은 가수들이 커버곡을 냈습니다. 특히 미국의 포크록 가수 댄 포겔버그(Dan Fogelberg, 1951~2007)가 서정적인 곡조로 커버한 곡이 1990년에 릴리스되어 대히트를 쳐서 대단한 인기를 끌었습니다. 아래 들어 보시지요.
